Saulaman Schlegel (they/them) is a non-binary art handler, installer, and the founder of Saulaman Schlegel Art Services. Saulaman has over 10 years of professional experience working with museums, galleries, performance venues, and private collections. Saulaman specializes in museum-standard installation, project management, logistics, packing & crating, and fabrication.

Their background includes work with institutions such as the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. Saulaman holds a BFA in Studio Arts and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts and Decolonial Praxis, and regularly pursues professional development opportunities for themselves and the team.

Through SSAS, Saulaman leads the core team on projects ranging from single-object residential installs to complex multi-site exhibitions, prioritizing care and collaboration. They are deeply committed to equity-driven practices and building long-term relationships with artists, collectors, and institutions alike.

Leo Heinen (they/them) brings over 6 years of professional art handling experience across museums, galleries, and fabrication environments. They have served as a department leader at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art assisting with training new staff, managing projects, and overseeing installs during a transitional period in the department.

Leo is known for their skilled fabrication methods, varied interests, and enthusiasm.

With experience handling everything from large-scale sculptural works and electronic installations, Leo brings strong creative problem-solving skills to the team.

Prima Jalichandra-Sakuntabhai (they/them) brings over 8 years of experience as an exhibition preparator and art handler, working nationally with museums, galleries, and private collectors. Their professional background includes installation services for Craft Contemporary (Los Angeles), Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Los Angeles Nomadic Division, JOAN Gallery, Wattis Institute (San Francisco), and MOCA Tucson.

From 2021–2024, Prima served as Exhibitions Manager at Craft Contemporary, where they deepened their leadership skills—overseeing teams, managing timelines, resolving on-site challenges, and participating in DEAI initiatives to improve working conditions for art handlers.

Prima is highly skilled in packing, transport, AV-based installations, and adaptive problem solving, with experience driving 16’ and 20’ trucks for cross-country moves. They bring a commitment to gentle inquiry, communication, and collaborative care to every project.

They believe exhibition work is not just logistics alone—it’s cultural labor.

Jamie Owens (he/him) is a multi-disciplined curator, designer, fabricator, artist, and art handler with 10 years of experience developing exhibitions and supporting creative communities. His professional experience spans a wide range of arts environments, including museums, commercial galleries, public auction houses, private collections, and DIY art spaces. This breadth of involvement has informed his understanding of how artworks circulate, are cared for, and contextualized within different cultural and institutional frameworks.

Jamie brings a thoughtful eye to presentation and a steady, methodical approach to installation. He is especially valued for his adaptability across different environments and his commitment to clear, respectful collaboration, often creating opportunities for newer members of the team to take on greater responsibilities. Jamie exhibits his own artwork on an annual basis, and manages the space at After Hours Gallery.
